Xbox One offline status feature lets you appear offline to friends, or appear online to friends you want to chat with. To activate offline status login into your Xbox account and click on the settings. Then click the gear icon to expand Options and select Appear Offline.
Xbox offline is the same as ghost mode which disables the chat from showing that the user is online and removes the time stamp that displays when the user was last logged in. There is also an “Unseen Message” feature that enables the user to still send messages and get replies without the recipient seeing that they have been read on some social media apps.
The Xbox One offline helps when you don’t want or don’t have time to engage with friends. If you want to log into Xbox without your friends knowing you’re online, you can easily turn off your “active status” so you appear offline
You can turn off your active status on the Xbox website, and Xbox mobile app. When your active status is turned off, you will appear offline even when you’re online.
How to Go Offline on Xbox
If you want to go offline to everyone on Xbox, including any friends, you can do so in just a few steps.
1. Once you sign in to Xbox Live, click the Xbox button on your controller to be taken to the menu.
2. Navigate to the right to the Sign-in tab and highlight and select your profile image.
3. Click the Profile Image and you will see a drop-down menu with a few different options
4. Select My profile and you’ll be taken to a new screen.
5. You’ll see a drop-down menu that says Appear online, which you can edit by selecting a few different options — one of which is Go offline. You can check other settings here, as well.
Can my friends see my active status if I ignore them on Xbox? There is no connection between ignoring the message and the online or offline status of Xbox. So, if you ignore someone on the messenger they can still see you as active if you are active.
How to Appear Offline on Xbox One Without Offline
If you Want to play with your friends and don’t want a particular person to know you’re active, you can choose to appear online to everyone, you can also change the privacy settings in your account so that only certain friends can see your online status.
To do this:
1. Login to your Xbox One account and go to the settings and you will find the Account option on the menu to the left.
2. Select Account and choose the Privacy & online safety tab at the top of the list of options.
3. Select Xbox privacy, and then you’ll be taken to a new screen.
4. You will now be taken to a page with some preselected privacy choices for various types of players. The Adult default setting automatically makes your status online visible to all users with no regard to if the user is your friend. The Child and Teen default selections limit the visibility of online status to friends.
5. If you select View details & customize, you’ll be able to change your Online status and history. Select that to go to the next step.
6. Now you have three options to choose from: Others can see if you’re online, others can see what you’re watching or listening to, or others can see your game and app history.
With these, you prevent a certain friend from knowing that you’re online.
How Can You Tell if Someone is Offline on Xbox
You can see someone is active on Xbox by checking the green dot on their profile, next to which “recently active” is written – it means they’ve been active in the last 24 hours; which does not mean that they’re online at the moment.
You can also tell if someone is on Xbox by entering their name in the search bar in the app, and clicking on them. One clear sign that he’s still using Xbox is if he’s updated his profile photo and information.
Another way to find out if someone is using Xbox is to open Xbox on your phone– you won’t need to log in. Enter either the person’s profile ID into the search section. There should then be a confirmation of whether this is an existing account on their records or not.
